Abstract : Fixed point theorems of Ciric [3], Fisher and Sessa [4], Gregus [5], Jungck [10] and Mukherjee and Verma [17] are generalized to a locally convex space. As applications, common fixed point and invariant app roximation results for subcompatible maps are obtained. Our results unify and generalize various known results to a more general class of noncommuting mappings.
