Abstract : Novel lricyanovinyl derived hydrazones ttave been prepared by the reaction of lelracyanoethylene and hydrazone. and .hese dyes showed absorption in the regton of S()() nm. The dyes showed pronounced solvltochromic effects as thesolvents polarit)' increased. Some of the new dyes were studied to show there aggregation properties in solution as the concentration changed. Most of the dye sludied showed change in the absorption speclrum and hence the position ()f the maximum absorpli()n bands. The Ihermal stability of some of the prepared dyc:s were studied in polymethylmethacrylate film at 80 °e: the substitution onthe aromatic alcldtydes showed some improvement of the ltterma1 stabUity of the dyes.
