Abstract : The antimicrobial activity of different extracts of PJectromJtus tetfutJlorus, on Cram +ve (Staphy-lococcus aureus) and Gram -ve (Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) bacteria, Candida albicans. Aspergillus fimigatus, and A. n1ft'" revealed that essential oil extract of the plant (85% thymol) snowed higher antimicrobial activity 011 all the tl'tited organisms than pure thymol. Aqueous and Of14nic solvents extraots showed antimicrobial activity on all the tested organisms, but not comparable to the high activity obtained by essential oil extract. Aqueous extract using cold and boiling water were l1I()re efficient: in inhibiting~ the' growth of P MrugiIlQ.,a and the two moulds, Oil the other hand, organic solvents, polar and non polar (ethyl aliened and diethyl ether), extras showed stronger antimicrobial activity on E..foli, S aurt'lt~ tmd C aJbrea"s than aqueous extracts
