Based on the wise directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the idea of establishing the Institute of Researches and Consultations at King Abdul-Aziz University was laid down through his generous directive no. (7/476/X) on 23/12/1418 A. H. to be the responsible for the researches that are externally financed and the idea of establishing the institute went through the following phases:

· King Abdul-Aziz University Board decision no. (3) on 26/5/1418 A . H. including a recommendation to build the Institute of Researches and Consultations at King Abdul-Aziz University based on the memorandum presented by the Vice President for Higher Education and Scientific Research which proposed the establishment of the Institute of Researches and Consultations at the university.

· The Higher Education Council decision no. (2156/A) in its ninth session held on 6/9/1418 A. H. approving the establishment of the Institute of Researches and Consultations at King Abdul-Aziz University.

· The list of the institute was issued according to the decision no. (9), taken by the council of the university in its 8th session for the academic year 1422/1423 held on 19/4/1423 A. H. which approved the regulations and the laws of the Institute of Researches and Consultations at King Abdul-Aziz University.
